what is the importance of concrete mix design on commercial applications?
the mix design determines the final strength, the durability, the workability, the cure time, and the 3,7,14, 28 day strengths (which are very important if you must get high strength quickly to build on the slab). I’ve done mix design testing for local redi-mix firms plenty of times…they want information on breakout strengths, percent air, water, additives, etc so they cant justge the performance of their concrete. They have to have enough data to accurately gauge the strength…when I have enough data to form a plot that states that their 4,000 psi mix design breaks out at or above 4000 psi 97% of the time, they can sell it as 4000 psi concrete with confidence…if it is lower or not enough data exists, they might substitute 5,000 psi concrete just to cover their discrepancies….

Poster Printing: Four Ways to Make Extra-large Messages Fit
Lay-outing your images for your advertising material may feel like fitting a pair of pants two sizes smaller of those skinny jeans. You may push and shove and change angles but you still end up midway. You can’t force it or you prints are going to burst at the seams. Know the strengths and potentials of poster printing and make your advertisement fit your marketing needs.

The best thing about poster printing is that you can simply adjust the specifications to the content of your ads, instead of having the content of your ads adjust to specifications. Large Format printing is the couture of poster printing; when size matters, tailor fit your message.
1. Adjusting the size
The standard poster sizes are the 11×17 inches as the smallest, followed by 18×24, 24×36, and lastly the biggest at 27 x 39 inches or the movie poster size. Sometimes, all you need is something a little bigger than the smaller size and is awkwardly fit for the larger size.
Large format printers can work with those in between sizes. You can specify the exact length or height of each project.
What’s better is that the print size of large format printers can go as big as floor to ceiling prints. Your horizontal length can go from anywhere between 8 inches to as much as 58 inches. The vertical length goes even bigger; from 8 inches to a whopping 100 inches (definitely way over your height). Of course, you can flip over these sizes to change your print orientation from portrait to landscape.
2. Poster-sized flyers
If you don’t want to change the size, you can always change how it will be perceived. Handing out regular sized posters as flyers can make that gigantic impression. Have a few hundred and hand them out as program souvenirs or as pin-ups. With large format offset printing, you can avail of cheap posters.
More importantly, you have the choice to have these posters printed on different kinds of papers. You can have it printed on 100lb gloss cover (which is the equivalent of a thick magazine cover) or a thinner 100lb gloss text (which is as thin as the inside pages of a glossy magazine) for easier handling.
3. Choose your location
Indoor posters are generally smaller than their outdoor counterparts. Use large sizes of posters for indoors. These strikes out the competition will easily win your customers’ attention.
When printing for large outdoor posters, go crazy with the same and print in gigantic sizes. As large format posters lets you choose your poster material, ask for the vinyl variety so you can print banner sized posters. This will surely win you more than a few glances.
4. UV-coating for extra big impressions
Big impressions can go beyond sizes; it can be made with the wow factor. Print your posters with ultra shiny UV-coating. This envelopes prints in a thin plastic like material that give your print vibrant colors and extra shine. UV-coating improves the contrast and the vibrancy of your prints giving your poster an edge over other posters.
